set visibility of imported/linked files globally

project browser: allow filtering sheets etc.

Currently i can set filtering/sorting options in the project browser only for Views (e.g. "not on sheets"). I'd like to be able to do the same with the other subcategories in project browser as well (legends, lists, sheets, familes, groups). Especially i would like to be able to only display families currently used in the model. This would make it much easier to navigate the project browser while still keeping unused families stored in the project.

Location of Application Data

Is there any good reason the typical application data files (revit.ini keyboardshortcuts.txt) are not in the user's application data folder, but the program folder. I'm asking because users without adminstrative rights can therefore not change these. Or is there a way to change the paths of these files?

Extract families with a search string from existing models without having to open and search the file.

projectbrowser: autoclose other branches

when i open two or more main branches in the project browser it already gets to big for my screen (19"). I have to start closing branches manually or use the scrollbar to find what i want. I think it would be far more usable if at any time only the current branch were open. I remember from mac os 9 that the "+"-signs could be clicked in combination with modifier keys and the behaviour would change accordingly.

Revit is touted as a building DATABASE, how can there not be a search function?

Revit's solution to customizing keyboard shortcuts seems quite tedious:
- When i set a new shortcut i have to check manually if it is not in use already.
- After changing one or more shortcuts i have to restart the application to be able to use it.
This could be much improved.

make tool option behaviour consistent - either remember them all or reset them all after command execution

E.g. the trim tool remembers which sub-tool in the option bar was last used, the on the other hand mirror tool will always switch back to "copy" option. The last i find particularly annoying becaus to me "copy" shouldn't be the default behavior for any translation tool (it's not for move or rotate in Revit either).

automatic numbers when duplicating families

Revit adds a number to the name of a newly duplicated family/increments an existing number at the end of the family name. As many families names have numbers indicating dimensions even in the families shipped with revit, this behavior is nonsensical. Please drop it altogether, there is hardly a case where i won't have to rename manually anyway, if i forget, just give me an error feedback.

custom backup file location

Revit saves automatic backup files with the extension *.????.rvt in the same location as the original project file. As i usually have several Revit files in one folder, this creates a messy situation with tons of backup files in one folder. When i backup my project data i have to clean out these intermediate backups first to avoid bloated backups. Please give me an option to change the location of automatic backup files.
